Arthur Hills is known as one of the United States' most highly-regarded golf course architects. He has designed more Florida golf real estate development courses than most architects. Hills has designed 45 Florida courses in all, including six that are showcased within this issue of Florida Golf Magazine. Thirty-some years ago, we were hired to design a short course called Vista Plantation Golf Club in Vero Beach, Florida. With eight par fours and ten par threes, the course is 3,667 yards long and the members love it.

In early 1992, we were hired to design a golf course nestled along the scenic Cocohatchee River. It became Collier’s Reserve Country Club—a private, gated community in Naples, Florida. Collier’s Reserve was the world’s first Audubon Signature Sanctuary with Audubon International.

Back in 1998, we designed 27 holes for Dr. Hans-Jurgen Reichardt at Heron Creek Golf & Country Club in North Port, Florida. Hans and Monika Reichardt have been the sole owners of the Club since it opened in 1999.

In 2002, the City of Miami Beach hired me and my golf architectural design firm, Arthur Hills / Steve Forrest and Associates, to lead a program for the comprehensive rejuvenation of the localdlish municipality’s legendary Bayshore Golf Course. Bayshore originally opened in 1923

Our firm was hired by the City of Miami Beach in 2007 to redesign the Normandy Shores Golf Club. The legendary course had a long and very colorful history. The land for the golf course was donated to the City of Miami Beach by M. C. Gryzmish on January 4, 1928. A year later the City took position of the land.
