Bay Point Marriott Resort is home to the "Nicklaus Course at Bay Point" Back in 2005, Designer Gary Nicklaus and Senior Design Associate Chris Cochran led the Nicklaus Design team in creating the layout that transformed the former Lagoon Legend (an extremely difficult course), into the Nicklaus Course at Bay Point, a fun and strategic course that golfers of all skill levels can enjoy.

Measuring more than 7,152 yards, the par 72 Nicklaus Course at Bay Point features beautifully shaped putting surfaces and very fast greens. It also boasts a slope rating between 123 -143 and a course rating between 69.9 and 75.3.

The Nicklaus design also features "illusionary" bunkers, which are strategically placed to tempt golfers through a "risk/reward" scenario, as well as a variety of fairways with plateaus and uncharacteristic elevation changes unique to the Northwest Florida region.

Many of the holes at Bay Point are memorable. Hole No. 17 features a green design reminiscent of a "fish bowl," as Chris Cochran told Florida Golf Magazine on opening day back in 2005. By design this green is actually recessed below the surrounding landscape, creating a challenging semi-blind shot to the green.

Hole No. 5 offers spectacular panoramic views of the Grand Lagoon and St. Andrews Bay. The design incorporates the natural terrain of majestic scrub oaks, Florida pine trees, sandy-white waste areas and saltwater marshes.

“The newest addition to the Dewsweepers Golf School is also at the Marriott Bay Point Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida,” said Dewsweepers Host and lead instructor Tony Ruggiero. “We enjoy implementing top instruction programs for all the members and visitors at this wonderful Honours facilities.”
