SOUTHEAST FLORIDA

DELRAY BEACH

Dr. Gary Wiren's Golf Collection Shown at Delray Beach Center For The Arts

“The pictures and the stories told within this exhibit will make the ancient artifacts come alive!”

You can bet that Delray Beach, Florida will be abuzz between November 8, 2012 and April 21, 2013, with the talk about the five month exhibit at their Cornell Museum, of: "The most unique golf exhibition in the history of the United States...featuring the Dr. Gary Wiren Golf Collection."
With Delray right in the heart of the nation's most concentrated upscale golf, this exhibit expects to draw 15,000 to 20,000 golfers, plus non-golfers as well. For the avid golfer, they are promised that they will see, hear, and experience things they have never come in contact with before no matter how long they have played the game. The non-golfer will be pleasantly surprised leaving with a statement like, "That was really interesting...I hadn't thought I would enjoy it so much."

What is unique about this exhibit that would give it that description of unique? First, it will cover all that is expected of a golf exhibition in a museum. It will feature one of the world's most historically interesting golf ball, club, and tee collections with items going back to the 1500's. But, in addition, it will introduce subjects and individual pieces seldom or never treated in noted golf exhibits before. Just a sampling are "Golf's Greatest Trick-Shot Performers;" "The History of Miniature Golf;" "Golf on Comic Book Covers;" "What's New is Old" - modern equipment ideas that were around 100 years ago; "Golf on the Moon...the Ball, the Stamp, and the Man;" and "Golfing Sheet Music," 1890's to now... plus a lot more. THE PICTURES AND STORIES WILL MAKE THE ARTIFACTS COME ALIVE!

Be amazed watching Fred Astaire doing "The Golf Dance;" feel the actual formed molded grips of the hands of Johnny Miller, Kathy Whitworth, Bob Toski and Arnold Palmer; enjoy reading Golf's Greatest Quotes as you go from room to room; have fun with trying to guess answers to golf quiz questions as you tour; and actually putt with putters from 1890, 1925, and 2012 to compare; plus there is a lot more. The viewer's first image will be the beauty of the game and the last one will be the enjoyment that comes from being a golfer. This interactive experience will be Educational, Motivational, and Enjoyable...which all translates to "A good time."
Additionally, as part of the event, America's most highly recognized golf artists will be displaying their works throughout the museum, a real treat. And, a hickory shaft golf tournament will be held featuring the most decorated hickory player, Omaha's Randy Jensen, the "Tiger Woods" of hickory golf with 74 international titles.

General admission is $10, $6 for seniors and students, $3 for children and free for ages 5 and under. Exhibit hours will be Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, visit
